We just published our latest The Sector Edge report for October 27, 2025. Below we look at trends for Tactical Ranks for the sector ETFs.


A look at sector ETF Tactical Ranks over the last 10 weeks

  • Growth sectors consistently in the top five

    • Technology has ranked 1st or 2nd

    • Communication Services has ranked 1st to 3rd

    • Discretionary has ranked 2nd to 5th

  • Positive defensive shift for Utilities and Healthcare

    • Utilities in the top five over the last five weeks - up from 8th in late August

    • Healthcare in the top five over the last four weeks - up from 10th in late September

  • Only Staples and Real Estate consistently in the bottom five

    • Staples has ranked 10th or 11th over the last 10 weeks

    • Real Estate has improved slightly and has ranked 7th over the last two weeks

  • Cyclicals (XLF, XLI, XLB, and XLE) up-ticked slightly last week to an average rank of 8 as Defensives (XLU, XLP, XLRE, and XLV) held steady with an average rank of 6. Growth (XLK, XLC, and XLY) stays solidly in the lead with an average rank of 3. Table 2 below.
